Evaluation; What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Evaluation; How effective is the combination of your main and ancillary texts?

I incorporated the chosen genre themes of vintage/retro in both the ancillary and video production. As a group we reinforced this in our ancillary tasks by developing a house style, which portrayed brown and orange tones, along with a faint image of the union jack. Along with this, we also published a series of design sheets, displaying various Logo designs; using different fonts. We showed these designs to an audience range from 11 - 17, and this revealed that the most favoured was Impact.

In the video production, vintage/retro genres are shown through the use of mise-en-scene, props, camera angles and shots, and location, for example the  cobble street used as the location in Greenwich with red, white and blue bunting portrays this. ‘Olly Murs’ choice of costume,
supports the retro theme too. By Olly Murs wearing printed cable knit jumpers and bright coloured chinos etc. Adding to, we used a cinematography motif running through the Music video, giving the video a retro and aged edge.

In my opinion, I feel that the conventions and details used within both my Ancillary and Main task have created an identity together, which allows our audiences to recognise it as an established brand.

Evaluation; How did you use new technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research
(List of new technologies used to support research;)
Google/Images
iPhone
iPad
Youtube
Blogspot
I used various sources, such as my iPhone and iPad to access Youtube, Google and Blogspot.

By using Youtube and Google, I was able to watch, research and establish the codes and conventions of Music videos. (recognising when artsists conform and subvert to the conventions)

Blogging helped me keep my work in order and enabled me to present ideas.

Planning

(Cross media conversions;)

In the event of Planning where to meet
and discuss our ancillary and main tasks,
the group used Facebook and mobile phones
to text and arrange dates and times.
This allowed us to be efficient and manage our
time.

Dropbox, was also used to share ideas.
as a group we ahceived this by creating a
shared account and pasting all our work ideas into the account.
Construction
Digital SLR camera
Sony 7.1 mega pixel video camera

Adobe InDesign
Premier Po
Adobe Photoshop
I used advanced design software’s to construct

the ancillary tasks.
For the main video production,I used Premier

Pro, an industry standard software I used it

to edit footage and create rough cuts,
to develop transitions and also to

create audience feedback in which I later

referred to when I was completing this evaluation.

Evaluation; In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Ancillary advertisement-
·       Uses conventions from real media products,
·       Layout
·       Texts
·       Quality of images
·       Furniture
Ancillary Digi-pak
·       Conforms to the codes and conventions featured on real products of digipaks, such as; main front cover image, albums name and artist name, inside booklet featuring lyrics of the songs on the album, back CD cover listing the songs featured on the CD, spine credits, barcode,
Video Production

·       Uses professional camera shots and angles; such as; jumps cuts, hand held shots, two shots ,wide shots, wipes, zooms, fade transitions, slow zoom  , angle reverse angle shots.

·       The video challenges forms and conventions of real music videos, because of the use of various locations and mise-en scene.
