Evaluation; How effective is the combination of your main and ancillary texts?

I incorporated the chosen genre themes of vintage/retro in both the ancillary and video production. As a group we reinforced this in our ancillary tasks by developing a house style, which portrayed brown and orange tones, along with a faint image of the union jack. Along with this, we also published a series of design sheets, displaying various Logo designs; using different fonts. We showed these designs to an audience range from 11 - 17, and this revealed that the most favoured was Impact.

In the video production, vintage/retro genres are shown through the use of mise-en-scene, props, camera angles and shots, and location, for example the  cobble street used as the location in Greenwich with red, white and blue bunting portrays this. ‘Olly Murs’ choice of costume,
supports the retro theme too. By Olly Murs wearing printed cable knit jumpers and bright coloured chinos etc. Adding to, we used a cinematography motif running through the Music video, giving the video a retro and aged edge.

In my opinion, I feel that the conventions and details used within both my Ancillary and Main task have created an identity together, which allows our audiences to recognise it as an established brand.
